Dr. Ted Kirkpatrick

Arthur (Ted) Kirkpatrick, Ph.D., received his doctorate in computer and information science from the University of Oregon in 2000. For the past ten years, he has been an Assistant and Associate Professor of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. For most of that time, he has studied human-computer interaction. He has published papers in haptic interfaces, incorporating the human sense of touch into user interfaces. He has also published articles design space explorers for statistical reasoning. Design explorers encourage data analysts to explore a larger variety of experimental designs before committing to an actual experiment. Having considered a variety of approaches, the analyst can select a design that produces the most precise estimates of the outcomes at the lowest cost.
