Dr. Uwe Glässer

Dr. Uwe Glässer is a professor of computing science, founding director of the Software Technology Lab, former co-director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences (IRMACS), and a former director of the School of Computing Science at SFU. Prior to his appointment at SFU, he held academic positions in Germany, worked for the International Telecommunication Union, Geneva and Microsoft Research, Redmond, WA. Focussing on applied computer science, his work focuses on the system-level design of distributed and mobile systems spanning three fields: industrial applications of formal methods, software technology for intelligent systems, and security informatics. He is also actively involved in a number of interdisciplinary research projects on modeling of complex social systems, the study of ambient assistive living, the study of bipolar disorder in later life, and computational criminology.
